2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.
It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.
The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's 'moose test'. The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road .. like a moose.

problem #2Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.2L

For a upscale vehicle as Jeep and a $ 25,000. price tag you would expect a working radio for life, along with other issues with exterior lighting and u- connect phone issues. It is a shame for a great product to have gone to the dogs. I am tire of riding with a radio that had a mind of its own, comes on and goes off when it wants to. And the auto select knob for the exterior lights works when it feels good and ready, sick of this stuff. Chrysler/Jeep need to step up and correct these problems, I know I am not the only Jeep owner with these issues. Please if any one has any resolutions let me know. Hope Chrysler/Jeep is reading this with the willingness to correct the issues.

Here's the video. https://www.flickr.com/photos/8653023@N08/sets/72157646443370738/ Radio randomly turns off and on. Worried this is part of a larger issue with the TIPM that so many others have experienced. Dealership ordered a replacement media center/radio.. just worried this may be a bigger problem.

I took my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee to the dealer for service and asked them to update my navigation software because it didn’t have some new streets on it. They said they could do it for $400, or I could do it myself for $140. Of course, I chose the $140 option. Well, it turned out to be $165.57, plus a lot of time, waiting, hassle, and pain. Here are the “simple” instructions on how to do it–70 “easy” steps:
1) Go to http://chryslergroup.navigation.com.
2) Enter 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
3) Call your dealer and verify that you bought the Uconnect 8.4A (RA3) navigation system. (Or click on a link to buy it for $595.
Get the Uconnect Software Update (not included with the map update):
4) Before buying the new map, click on a link to go to https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ to see if you need a Uconnect Software Update.
5) Type in your 17-digit VIN.
6) You’ll need an update, so click on Get Started.
7) Watch a 10-minute video on updating the Uconnect Software. (It’s “easy,” just “a few simple steps.)
8) Either install Akamai NetSession, or download a file; unzip it; and copy it to a USB flash drive.
9) Go out to your car; start it; and, leave it in Park.
10) Insert the Uconnect software update USB flash drive into the USB port.
11) A popup shows the old version and the new version of the software. If you want to update it, click on Yes.
12) Wait 30 minutes (sitting in your car, while it’s running).
13) Another popup shows that the new version has been installed, so click on No.
14) Remove the Uconnect software update USB flash drive from the USP port.
Get the Map Update:

And, after all of this, I realized that it only updated from 2012 to 2013. So, after all this trouble, my map is still four years old.
