Hello Tyrone, Thank you for your time yesterday helping us understand the problem you had with the Bosch/Vetronix J25234 device and Ford Module Programming (FMP) application. After our conversation, here is a summary of the situation as we understand it. A Bosch/Vetronix sales/field representative visited your shop to show you their Bosch/Vetronix J2534 device. To prove to you the functionality of the device, the rep had you purchase a 1 day subscription to FMP. The user name that we have for you is _________. The FMP application was loaded and you successfully did a vehicle ID of a 2000 Windstar. The rep then went into the module programming toolbox and attempted to flash the vehicle. Somewhere during the flash he had a problem with the process and the module was left blank. It appears from our server logs, that someone attempted to flash the module approximately 10 times between 4 P.M. and 9 P.M. on 3/19/07. There was still a problem so you took the vehicle to ___________Ford to be programmed. ___________Ford did successfully flash your vehicle and return it to service. We did question you as to why Ford Technical Hotline was never contacted during the flash process when there was a problem, and you stated that from your perspective it was a demo being done by the Bosch/Vetronix rep, and you were hands off during the whole process. You stated that you did not purchase the device and no longer have a valid FMP subscription at the present time. Here is the Ford perspective on the situation. Ford presently has approved 6 different J2534 devices to be used with the FMP software. The list of the devices and the links to purchase these devices can be accessed via: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdirs/retail/default.asp?pageid=pubs_pcm&gutsid=pubs_pcm&menuIndex1=38. Ford validates these devices so we can assure customers our product will work as expected. Presently Vetronix does have a request to validate their J2534 device with FMP. We have been working with Vetronix development engineers on their software to ensure it will work with all of Ford programmable modules. The Vetronix software development has not been completed so Ford has not approved the Vetronix device for use with FMP application and listed the device on our webpage. The problem listed in the complaint was 'the PCM was blanked out and no provision was available to reinstall AS BUILT AS Data Pid Blocks.' When using FMP if a user does a vehicle ID correctly it will read (inhale) the existing VID Block data from the currently installed Module (The VID block is where the AS BUILT data is stored). When doing a Programmable Module Installation (PMI) the FMP application will use that existing AS BUILT data when reflashing the module. If the user stayed in the same session on multiple retries, he will never see AS BUILT data request because the application will use the inhaled data when the vehicle ID was originally done. Even if the module is truly blank and the FMP application cannot inhale the VID Block data, and the user starts a new session, the user will be prompted to enter the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) part number, or the tear tag number which is a sticker on the module. Before flashing the blank module the user will be asked if they want to retrieve AS BUILT data. In this case, you could have used the AS BUILT function that is included with the purchased FMP subscription by entering the VIN. Even if you did not want to use the AS-BUILT function you would have been asked some questions about the vehicle and the module would have been programmed with the data extrapolated from the questions that were answered. Had you needed it, FMP does address how you would handle the need for 'AS BUILT' data . It is unfortunate that you and the rep went through the trouble of taking the vehicle to the dealership for a reflash of the PCM. If the Bosch/Vetronix representative would have conta
